Again, "When would big government suit a Republican's needs?" You and many here have asked. Let me answer that question. When the Republican Party removed 'the evil Saddam Hussein who killed hundreds of thousands of his fellow Iraqis' and believe that it's the American people's responsibility, rather than the Iraqi people's responsibility to free themselves. When the Republican Party promoted the 'ownership society' that helped bring on the housing bubble and all of its subsequent bailouts. When the Republicans party creates new programs like their precious 'Faith Based Initiatives.'
"When would big government suit a Republican's needs?" many here have asked. Let me answer that question. When the Republican Party added another layer of entitlement spending. (Medicare Prescription) When the Republican Party ramped up pork barrel spending in a time of war. When the Republican Party expanded farm subsidies and ethanol mandates. When the Republican Party doubled the size of the Department of Education. When the Republican Party wants to pay more for the defense of Europe than the Europeans do themselves.
You Republicans like to pass out the cake and ice cream but will whine when it comes to taking the medicine. It was you Republicans (2001-2007) who spent more than the previous set of Democrats . They increased pork barrel spending from 3,000 to 14,000 projects a year, billed to the national credit card. You Republicans have engaged in a eight year social engineering project in the Middle East that costs $120 billion a year and may well last another 100 years, billed to the national credit card. You Republicans have added another layer of entitlement spending that costs $50 billion a year called Medicare Prescription, billed to the national credit card.
You Republicans like to pass out the cake and ice cream but will whine when it comes to taking the medicine. You Republicans mandated $4 billion a year in ethanol subsidies alone, as well as drastically increased cotton, sugar, soybean, corn, wheat handouts, billed to the national credit card. You Republicans doubled the size of the Department of Education, billed to the national credit card. You Republicans started new government programs, like Faith Based Initiatives, and then prattle on about how you want small government.
Should we Americans be on-board with all the Republican spending programs like; 1. ethanol mandates 2. paying for missile defense for the EU 3. the 100 year social engineering project in Iraq 4. making Afghanistan a modern democratic state 5. increasing entitlement spending by passing Medicare Prescription 6. Expanding NATO to include Ukraine and the Republic of Georgia Once again, Republicans believe in HUGE government, they just can't be bothered to pay for it. Let's not forget that government expansion was two and a half times bigger under George W. Bush than under 'Bubba' Clinton.
Today's Republicans are not willing to sacrifice other than by getting their mouths on the teat of the government sow. The 'Greatest' generation of the 1940's were tough; these odious and contemptible Republicans of the 21st century should be, henceforth, referred to as the 'Moronic' generation.
Yes, Republicans were ambivalent about effectively running the war in Iraq. Most important to them was their precious tax cut. John McCain, the 2008 Republican presidential nominee said the USA could spend 100 years completing the social engineering project in Iraq. Every Republican applauded, knowing that the precious tax cut came first, and dumping the entire bill for the war onto the national credit would be maintained forever. In WWII, Americans on the home front were willing to sacrifice. People paid increased income taxes, victory taxes and had money deducted from their weekly paychecks to buy war bonds. And subjected themselves to food and fuel rationing.
Republicans pretend to be for 'small' government, but are for HUGE government. Republicans pretend to be for 'free' markets, but are really for rigged markets. Republicans say they are for 'taking responsibility', but their method of accepting responsibility is to always blame the most convenient Democrat for all the messes they created. Republicans always vigorously wave the American flag but, in fact, their actions put our beloved country last. Cherish the tax cut! Did the Greatest generation have tax cuts and Tea Parties during WWII when we were facing real Fascists? Let's face it, when a Republicans tells you that he or she is in favor of 'small government and free markets,' aren't both of these lies?
Here's what card-carrying Republicans, sycophants of the Republican party, dupes of the Republican party and people who get their information from a variety of Republican party propaganda mouthpieces do NOT know. Had we upped the Medicare payroll tax rate to pay for the Republican party's Medicare Prescription, which was passed in 2003; it would have never happened. And, yes, Republican socialist entitlement health care is not free.
I asked a Republican this question. "Any clue why 'No Child Left Behind' was passed when George W. Bush(R) was president, Denny Hastert(R) was Speaker of the House and Trent Lott(R) was Senate Majority Leader?" He told me, "Ted Kennedy wrote the bill!" Now let me ask everyone out there; just how many bills did Republicans write, When Obama, Pelosi and Reid held the levers of power in DC?" When they blame a Democrat, again, is this taking responsibility?
