Erika has this a bit wrong. She is right that government subsidies crank up prices but not always to limit demand. Often, especially in open enrollment schools, the prices go up because the school knows the students get X amount of dollars guarnteed. There is little incentive to not charge the full amount of guarenteed money. Or for that matter a little over the guarenteed money because students don't look at total cost, only the what comes out of their pocket now. Even if it exceeds standard operating costs, the school can build new facilitaties and other expenditures if the money is coming in. Check out this new conservative website: http://principlearmy.com/
You are not going to get any arguments from me here. I have a really tough time voting for someone based on what they say versus what they did. But you know even Reagan had those moments. He was a less conservative governor than he was president. Not that I think Romney is anywhere close to Reagan, but if Reagan can go from Dem to Rep, I am willing to believe Romney can stand by the waiver promise. I will take someone who says the right thing over someone who says that not giving illegal aliens a tuition break is heartless. But just for the record, I do not plan on voting for Romney in the primaries.
I am with you on this to some extent, but he has repeatedly said he does not believe his plan should be implemented on a national level. He is even the only candidate who has an actual plan for getting rid of Obamacare without passing in through congress by using an executive order for waivers for all 50 states. That could put the legislation on hold until we have enough people in congress to get rid of it permanently. I am willing to believe him on this one. My biggest fear with Romney is his plan to even trade with China. Anyone who supports tariffs and such to punish China has no knowledge of history, specifically the Smoot-Hawley tariff. Any action like Romney's or the one that is currently in congress would absolutely destroy us.
It is not silly, it is valid. For someone who talks so much about patriotism, you sure seem willing to step all over the Constitution: "The Senators and Representatives before mentioned, and the Members of the several State Legislatures, and all executive and judicial Officers, both of the United States and of the several States, shall be bound by Oath or Affirmation, to support this Constitution; but no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
