In response to:

The Need for Semi-Automatic "Assault" Weapons

rgama Wrote (10:53 AM): "Fact: There is absolutely NO justification to have semi-automatic firearms in the hands of civilians. These weapons have ONE purpose and ONE purpose ONLY. To kill as many human baings as possible in a short amount of time, with minimal effort and skill." And if 5 people are coming at you, would u rather have a single shot bolt action rifle, a double barreled shotgun, a semi-automatic handgun that shoots 10 rounds, a semi-automatic rifle with a 30 round clip, or a full-automatic rifle with 10 30-round clips?

Sure. If 30 first graders are coming at you, I guess that will be the weapon of choice.
Weapon of choice also to clear out a miovie theater in a few seconds.

No, Ragma, if 30 first-graders were coming after me, my weapon of choice would be a bag of candy. However, candy is ineffective against your average burglar, robber, murderer, or looter, so I must resort to bullets instead.

rgama, do you often fantasize about killing large groups of people? You seem to be fixated on this. Hopefully, you do not own any firearms and are under the care of a licensed psychiatrist. If not, please find one immediately, as your fixation is unhealthy.

The vast majority of gun owners have no such fantasies, and yet they own the tools that you say are the cause of this. So, you have contacted Stanley Tools about your lawsuit against them for the 400+ murders committed last year using their hammers?

Yes he does. Especially those who are so opposed to his way of thinking.

The correct answer is "semi-automatic rifle with 30 round clip". A rifle tends to have more stopping power, but a fully-automatic rifle tends to wander off target. "Spray and Pray" is not an effective method unless you are shooting blindly into a large mob or attempting suppresive fire.

Correction: the proper terminology is "30 round magazine". There is a difference.

I was just going to point that out.

That may by YOUR 'correct' answer and I do not disagree. But I really wanted to hear from rgama (the Obama lama).

Thank you, especially for the correction. I'm a purist.

How if about those people coming at you have full-automatics? Or if there are 10 people?

How about if you were in the LA riots? Or the Detroit riots?

Logic, you're wasting your time!

By now, we’ve heard the argument about semi-automatic "assault" rifles: nobody needs one. We’ve heard the only reason why someone would obtain this kind of weapon is so they can kill people, which is far from the truth. We’ve also heard the argument from both the Left and the Right that a pistol is how someone protects their home.

"I really don’t know why people need assault weapons. I’m not a hunter but I understand people who want to hunt," Republican Rep. Peter King said on Morning Joe earlier this week. "I understand people who live in rough neighborhoods...
