I own a 9mm pistol with a magazine that holds 10 rounds. I have 5 magazines, but I just load them with 8 rounds, so as to keep tension off the spring in the magazine. So what's the difference between a clip that holds 30 rounds and multiple clips of 10 rounds--a second or two maybe? By the way, 30round clips are very cumbersome. And, oh, yeah, an assault rifle is designed for quick and multiple firepower at close range and is easily maneuvered--you don't have to put it to your shoulder to fire effectively.
