The Snowden Effect

Rather than assuming the tactics of the NSA has kept us safe from terrorists, it might just be that the terrorists are too inept, unsophisticated or too isolated to mount major attacks against us or even mount consistent minor attacks, such as the Boston Marathon bombing. For sure the attack of 9/11 on the Twin Towers was a stroke of genius, but a rare stroke it was, and required just secret cunning, not any high-tech apparatus created by the terrorists. Advanced Secruity at airports has denied the terrorists any repeat of using our own planes against us, a security much more effective than any NSA tactics.

Here's the problem: In modern civilized society we have the long survival of the sickest, oldest, demented, impaired and disabled--not to mention the stupid and lazy and immoral. Right now half the population in USA is receiving govt assistance of some kind. Gotta take care of the sick, poor, aged--and the criminals too. And since man survives in a social enviornment, and not an island to himself, libertarinism is obsolete and inept in a world of socail ills.

That's what you say. Very few people, with a squad of swat-team goons at their door with rifles pointed, would stand their Constitutional ground. It's like this: the police own the streets and do whatever they want to do. If you don't like what they did to you, you can sort it out in court, but you ain't going to resist the police in the streets or at your door.

Is it really true we deport illegals who have committed capital felonies? I thought they stood trial here, and served prison sentences here. Surely we don't just deport illegals for their crimes?
Zero immigrants is what we need. USA has 320 millilon people. What do we want, to be like China or India with a billion people?
The problem with the GOP is that it is always reactive, always on the defensive against media bias and democrat initiatives. This means the GOP doesn't have strong leadership, nor strong ability to communicate it's ideology. And thus, you always get these small-fry, like Davd Camp working hard to get attention and make a name for himself.
All my lifetime Congress and state legislatures have been deeply despised by the population. Peculiar, don't you think, since these legislatures are representatives of the people? I just wish the courts were a hundred times more active in stricking down the awful laws these legislatures come up with in the name of serving us, the people.

A Crazy Culture

Some two thousand years ago, Artistotle said in his book on politics that the struggle over equality would remain the central focus of politics in the future. He was right about that. The USA chose an equality based on individual liberty and rights, but everyone equal before the law. The disciples of Karl Marx chose an equality enforced by a totalitarian govt that limits the success and freedom of individuals, and calling that humane and fair. Karl Marx has come to the USA, and it is mainly the white male still fighting for true equality instead of totalitarin uniformity.
Back when I was taking a govt 101 class in college, the professor asserted, as the textbook said, Nazis-facism was far right-wing politics. I challenged that. The professeor explained, as the textbook said, that patriotism was a major tenent of conservatism, the right. Therefore, facism, which was extreme patriotism, was right-wing. I replied does that mean in our Civil War, the Confederacy were leftist liberals, and the North were right-wing facists? Yes, folks, labels can be very misleading. Hitler wasn't promoting patriotism, he was promoting himself and a master race.

True, what you said about the long run of history--but things change. We see the West crumbling and Christianity fading today, while Islam grows stronger and more dominant. Our only advantage is technology. That's why Iran wants a nuclear bomb so badly. If we really had any advantage in ideology--our way of life--don't you think the muslims would have already accepted that, instead of hating and attacking us?
