Dear Mr. Ransom: A mistake on veterans receiving medical care. All holders of the Combat Infantryman's Badge (CIB) are entitled to assistance. As a holder of the CIB (six months "up front" in Korea 60 years ago) I qualify although officiall unwounded - they don't count bad memories and occasional nightmares. This is recent change, I've received notification within the last two weeks. Bill D.
The Geithner/Obama proposals remind me of the Popeye comic strip. For those too young to remember it, Wimpy, a non-worker beggar, was always telling Popeye " for a hamburger today, I will mow your grass tomorrow." Of course the grass was never mowed. Thus the Geither/Democrat's promises of, for a tax increase and debt increase today, we shall reduce the dept tomorrow are empty. If they can't cut costs today, they won't tomorrow. Bill D..
Excellent article! I would be interested in knowing the TOTAL compensation those union officils receive: pay, expenses, bonuses, retirement, etc. Also, any connection between the union officials, including their relatives, and the management of the union health care company? Is there any way of finding out? Bill D.

Too many are being critical of "teachers" drawing sick leave pay when on strike and protesting the Governors - and the voting public's, actions. After all, viewing student test results, they were drawing pay for not teaching when in the classrooms, why shouldn't they draw pay while standing on picket lines protesting? Their students will learn just as much - perhaps more. Bill D.
There is a simple answer to the Sheen drama that CBS supports financially if in no other way. People who have any morals should simply quit watching CBS. After a while, maybe, executives at CBS would get the message. Bill D.

I know nothing about elementary and high school level education, but friends tell be that at the college level if a professor gives a black student a low grade, no matter how well justified, the student complains to the EEO The prof then spends his time justifying himself to the Dean, who normally prefers peace to education. In my day, the only problems were football and basketball players. After my first year at one university, I never saw an athlete in my classes again. Bill D.
Aren't these the same sort of tactics Hitler used on Christians before he started killing protestant ministers? Bill D.
Well written article, excellent question at the end. Bill D.

The War Against the Christians

I have been reading the Quron in my spare time. It is full of comments indicating the inferiority of women, tells Muslim not to associate with non-Muslims and applauds the killing of Muslims who leave the faith and of all who are not people of "the Book," but also explains that many Jew and Christians (people of "the Book" aren't REALLY faithful, so it's all right to kill them also. I have asked three different Christian pastors if any such injuctions appear in the New Testamet. All have said "no" and I have never heard of any - quite a difference. Sorry, but I belive that anyone who swears by the Quron is a terrorist or potential terrorist. There are no "moderate" Muslims if they are true to their faity, they are onl subtle. Bill D.
