If we allow the government impose a prohibitive tax to squash the Second Amendment, what is to stop the government from imposing a prohibitive tax on the exercise of free speech, or on newspapers or media access, or a tax on churches and a tax to attend church? Can the government put such a huge tax on legal services that it would prohibit retaining counsel? SCOTUS magically transformed the Obamacare mandate fine into a tax, so almost anything the governmen wants to punish us for, such as exercise of the Bill of Rights, can be termed a "tax" and imposed to prohibit such exercise of our rights.
