There is no comparasion to physical attributes and sexual activities: plain and simple. Who am I to disagree with Coretta King and Julian Bond? An American Citizen! Who are you to disagree with the African American Citizens who vote to keep marriage as a man and a woman?

Yet, Bill...many citizens have been denied fair treatment on the basis of gender, color, religious background (Jew), and sexual orientation (which is as NEUTRAL to morality and social competence as gender and color). THAT is what makes injustice on the basis of orientation, wrong. Because sexual activity hasn't had to be in evidence for a gay person to be treated badly. Keeping marriage only between a man and woman isn't a guarantee of the quality of that marriage or parenting. So denying it for gay couples for all the reasons you state, isn't legal singly or collectively.

con't: black Americans engaged in a popular vote against a minority in this country are doing something they shouldn't for the very reasons THEIR lives weren't put up to popular vote. Just because they vote that way, doesn't mean they are RIGHT. Anymore than whites doing it during the Jim Crow era would have made whites right to do so. George Santayana was right in this instance. Miscegenation was rationalized by claiming children needed to have parents of the same race to thrive. Otherwise they would suffer. Such claims have no basis for mixed parents, anymore than the same for ss parents. It's having uncaring, neglectful and abusive parents that's bad for children. Gender and orientation makes no difference THERE.

con't: many of my gay friends are losing their parents and grandparents. The very heteros that raised them. Having op sex parents didn't change or influence the orientation of their children. The quality of life and it's strengths are about love and responsibility and committing to both. We should support EVERYONE who does so. Not make claims they don't on the flimsiest of excuses from a tradition of prejudice. Every negative claim made against gay people is either NON EXCLUSIVE to them, or an outright lie or result of successful defamation. Nothing for Jackson to be boasting about.

BFS! Deviant BEHAVIOR is inherently wrong no matter how much you lie through your teeth to rationalize it.

Black people can and are offended when their race is associated with sexual perversions.

Our country made history in 2008 when we elected our first black president. The 2012 election is already historic as well, but for a much less promising reason. This year marks the first time in history that a major political party has put the redefinition of marriage into its national platform.

The obvious question for many of my friends was, "Why are they in such a hurry?" If their victory is so inevitable, as they always tell the mainstream media; if the next generation is as likely to fall into their grasp as they think; why don’t they just trust...
