There are many Federal programs that can be eliminated that, in the long run, will not harm or take away from programs like Social Security or Medcare. Useles grants that waste money on things like planning astronaut menues for a hypothetical trip to Mars. How about the State Department funneling millions of dollars into building or re-building mosques in the ME? These programs are legion, and take more money than one might begin to think. This is an example of bloated government. There are plenty of areas where we can cut back spending. Congress doesn't have the courage to do it, simply put.

Should also put a limit on Presidental vacations on tax payers money....in 2011 alone the taxpayers got screwed for $l.04 million dollars for his family vacations, not including his 14 yr old daughters Mexico vacation taking her 12 friends from school with her. If they want to have these lavish vacations they should pay out of their own pockets, it's not like they can't afford it.

I think you are slightly wrong about how much was spent. I think the million should be billion. The Queen of England spends 58 million a year and our king spent 24 times that for his vacations. $1.04m didn't even pay for a tank of fuel in Air Force one. It costs $100,000 an hour to fly.

Whenever Republicans – or anyone else – propose a tax cut, Democrats run to the nearest microphone in horror crying about all the revenue it will "cost" the federal government.  Panicked Pols will foretell of massive firings of teachers and policeman, children will starve because school lunches will disappear, and condoms and birth control pills will vanish from Planned Parenthood stock rooms.

Such is the case in these waning days of the 2012 presidential campaign as Barack Obama and Joe Biden rail against the Romney-Ryan plan to lower the tax burden on Americans.  It's not just that Mitt and Paul believe...
