In the 70s when Carter created the phony oil shortage, and oil companies began to make huge profits, Carter and his gang slapped the oil companies with the "Windfall Profits Tax". The oil drillers capped the wells and went over seas to do business. Dumbo in the WH is already talking about "new" energy taxes. Guess who gets to pay the bill? You do,---at the pump.

Only people pay taxes. Put the tax burden anyplace you want but only people pay taxes. Make the companys pay more, price increases passed on to the people who pay the taxes.

Flub. I've been trying to get the folks to understand that for years. More over only the poor people and working class people actually pay taxes. The rest, business owners and self employed folks add the cost of the taxes they are forced to pay into the cost of the goods or services they provide.
It's just like minimum wage. Increase min wage and everyone gets a pay raise and the cost of living goes up. Link min wage to cost of living and you have an inflation generator that could destroy any economy in a few short years. Romney's worst idea is the only one 0bama says he agrees with in his SOTU speech.

When I was first starting out as a petroleum engineer, we used to have to run well economics that took into account the Windfall Profits Tax.
Nothing like trying to figure out what the WPT would be based on increasing a well's production from, say, 30 to 50 barrels per day, determining how much of the increase was "new oil" vs. "old oil," etc. etc.
Meanwhile our "friends" in the Middle East and elsewhere were laughing at us.

That new Vs old oil was the biggest scam ever until global warming came along I once docked a tanker that unloaded its entire cargo into a certain tank on the beach. The next day another tanker from another company loaded it and took it to their refinary and I docked it there..saw the manifest and the old man told me they were turning old into new oil..now you KNOW there was a ton of money in doing that to justify that operation. The tugs alone were 600 an hour.EACH.

A new report from the UK research team at Price Waterhouse and Cooper confirms what we knew all along: We’re right and they’re wrong.

Really wrong; once-in-a-lifetime, disastrously wrong if grading on the scale the rest of us are subject to.

Grading on the liberal scale, however, it’s just normal, everyday, run of the mill errors in judgment, math, worldview, physics and fluid mechanics that liberals deal with all the time in an effort to “wish” the world to Utopia while their leaders are busy creating Dystopia for all but a select few.

This latest discovery that...
