Unfortunately, many Protestant congregations (certainly not all) have resorted to "feel good religion" which simply validates the broken person you already are. They don't provide formation for you to configure yourself to Christ. It's not much more than a social club where you sing some hymns, go home, and continue living as you always have. If you think the Bhagavad Gita is equivalent to the teachings of Jesus Christ, then you don't love Christ. That's not me saying it, that comes straight from the top.
Umm...no. Not even remotely true. Your argument attempts to enforce a moral equivalence to all faiths. "My religion can only be right if your religion is right, too". That is an illogical argument. Salvation is what we get from Christianity, not a secret decoder ring and a certificate suitable for framing. Our faith commands us to identify evil where we see it and act against it. We cannot simply accept the wrong others do and still maintain an obedient relationship with God. Moral relativity is *exactly* why we have the problems we have in this world now. God may indeed be present in a person of another faith. Indeed, we are ALL His creations and He loves us all equally, but that does not make the other guy's *belief...
That's a good one, but one of my favorites is from Thomas Aquinas... "To one who has faith, no explanation is necessary. To one without faith, no explanation is possible."
Job is the absolute best smackdown in written history. Excellent citation.
All the Gospels DO agree with one another. Different perspectives, different audiences and different world eventas at the time of their writing affected the tone of each one. Do not attempt redactive criticism on the Bible if you only choose to view it through a 21st Century viewpoint. Furthermore, do not rely entirely on the English translation you have become comfortable with. The word "alone" that you cite was added to the KJV in order to uphold Protestant theology. It does not appear in the Vulgate or the original Greek versions of the New Testament. If you want to keep this rooted in Scripture, have a look at the James 2:14-26. Faith without works is dead. "Sola Fide, Sola Scriptura" does not hold water.
Granting yourself the latitude to define theology as you wish is rooted in pride. In fact, all sins are. God certainly gave us the ability to "grow in our spirituality", but He commanded us to obey Him alone. He gave us the ability to murder, as well, but He gave us the commandment not to.
That's fine. You'll answer for it some day. God is our Father. We are His people. It's not an egalitarian system. We praise HIM. We obey HIM. We don't broker deals with Him. If you don't live according to His law, you would be wise to fear.
Ed, I see you were absent that day in theology class. Jesus was not simply a human being. The correct term to describe His nature is "hypostatic union". He was fully and eternally human, and fully and eternally God. He was and is the Son of God. He took human form to share in our sufferings. He wasn't starting up a fan club, as you seem to imply.
This guy is simply a buffoon. He probably wears a tin-foil hat and thinks aliens seeded the earth. Go back to the 700 Club, you dolt.
Is that what the Protestant minister taught you, or the public school system? Please provide evidence that the Catholics tried to kill every Protestant, and then I will give you a lesson in English history to show you what Protestants tried to do to Catholics. I am a Catholic, and I have certainly not lost my way. One day you might consider asking a Catholic what we really believe instead of asking another indoctrinated Catholic basher like yourself.
