John Hawkins makes reasonable points except food stamps in my opinion ,church's feed the needed in the history of America, food stamps is governmental communism & the only collective 'Called 'Community"(local) will work ,so you can see the faces of those sacrificing that you may eat & have APPreciation ! Food stamp receivers today have no sense of appreciation or shame.....also flip side is the GIVER experiences Self sacrifice & all the benefits of the personnel connection that government can never ever give

I think you're right because churches tend to feed the needy quietly they don't feel the need to beat on their chests and brag about who they've helped. In a society that has shame that would be very important. In our society shame is dying and as a result we have shameless freeloaders who "work the system" rather than work for a living.

PLUS.. you got powdered milk, beans and cheese. You really didn't want to make a life out of living on the dole...Gvt has made being a taker, something to aspire to!

If every American was a Christian conservative Tea Partier...

1) …There would be fewer regulations, lower taxes, a business-friendly environment, and a much smaller government that would lead to considerably stronger economic growth and job creation. In fact, we'd probably have to dramatically increase the number of work permits we hand out to foreign workers, not because there are "jobs Americans won't do" (which don't actually exist), but because so many Americans would be employed that we'd have to bring in more people to do all of the available work.
