In a truly democratic society, marriage should not be determined within the parameters of any religion. Any adult should be able to obtain a marriage license from the courts regardless of their sexual preference. If the church doesn't want to recognize the marriage, so be it. The gays can then create forums in which their unions can be celebrated. I can think of plenty of reasons why people shouldn't get married, and sexual orentation isn't one of them. Bishop Jackson and the rest of the DC Christian Community would be better off spending their time addressing more pressing issues that face the black community in DC. I live in the area, and trust me there are plenty.

You are a true representative of what the conservative movement has become. I think you should get with those who think like you and kick us blacks (and hispanics) out of this great land. What will you do with the very few native americans that still exist? Will you kill them all and create another holiday like thanksgiving? You better get to work before it is too late!!!

When did I defend any political party? Read my post and you will conclude that I am not a fan of either dems or repubs, and know that both parties engage in racial/identity politcs. I have no evidence to draw a conclusion on the poll you cited, and dont care one way or another. Under the current political climate, blacks will continue to vote democratic, and the republicans will continue to get the southern/rural/appalachian white vote. Blacks and southern/rural/applachian white voters have never been politically aligned and never will be, plain and simple.

Do you honestly believe that poll to be accurate? How many people are willing to admit to being racist? As I previously stated, both parties engage in identity politics, plain and simple. You stated that the Democratic Party was founded on bigotry and small-mindedness, and I agree, but unfortunately, the Republicans have taken that mantle and ran with it.

Obama will never get less than 90% of the black vote just like any other democratic president. Sure, there will be some dissapointment because he wont accomplish some of the things they want him to, but it's not like blacks are just going to break ranks and vote for republicans. People get on these blogs and talk about why the blacks shouldn't vote for dems, but the truth of the matter is both of these parties are a joke, and engage in racial/identity politics. You want black votes, run resonable black candidates (no Alan Keyes types). Sure many blacks voted for Obama because he was black, just like many of you voted against him for the same reason.

Is a little jewish nerd who used to get beat up by mexican and black kids growing up in LA. He really isn't conservative like many prominent so-called conservatives. He, like the so-called liberal elites have a quality education and run in the same politcal and social circles as the likes of Obama, McCain, Sharwtznigger, etc. But there is big money these days in racial politics on both sides, considering the POTUS is of mixed raced heritage. From the tea-party movement, to the blame everything on racism Obama supporters. We even have "conservative rappers" who give shout outs to the likes of Monica Crowley and Mike Savage. Im actually thinking about becomming a part of the right wing media. Since I am young, black, tall, and good...

Between Democrat and Republican. You can use the liberal vs conservative argument, but in the end both ideologies fall short of America's promise. Conservatives can argue all they want about Obama or democratic policies not being good for black people, but neither was Regan's, Bush Sr, or GWB's. At the very least, a young black kid can look at Obama and see something to aspire to. Conservatives talk about how liberals exploit blacks, but apparently don't realize the explotation that their own party has done to them. Your last 3 presidents included a "reformed hollywood liberal," who raised taxes multiple times, and was not fiscally or socially conservative and a father and son duo who are the true definition of American elitism. ...
By not running on the "family values" platform. Ensign and Sanford were big Clinton critics and their chickens have come home to roost. I guess conservatives will always have the "elite liberal mainstream media" to blame when they fall short of the ideas in which the champion during election cycles.

I am currently in the army and know gay soldiers. They aren't publicly open about it because of the DADT. Sure I don't want a Richard Simmons like character serving along side me, but that is the stereotypical charicture of gay people. If we are to judge a community by its worse elements, lets ban blacks and hispanics because they are gang-bangers and criminals, lets ban white folks because they are racists rednecks, lets ban native americans because they are alcoholics and drug addicts, so on, and so forth. The majority of gays aren't sexual deviants who pray on their heterosexual counterparts, just like the majority of any group aren't the most vile and terrible human beings that their communities have produced. Sexual harrasment...
