The smoke that Ambassador Stevens inhaled was caused by a terrorist attack which caused a fire in the Embassy. If an arsonist sets fire to person's home and they die of smoke inhalation, the arsonist is generally charged with murder. How is the death of person when the fire is caused by smoke from a fire resulting from numerous rocket propelled grenades hitting a building? Bottom line the ambassador was murdered and it is a first degree murder by the laws of most states.
Global Warming is not only possible but probable based on the amount of hot air (and other gases) that Al Gore releases every time he speaks!
There are reasons why over the next couple of decades we should convert from coal to GEN III+ and GEN IV nuclear plants. Alleged global warming is not one of them. The first reason is we will likely run out of oil in 23rd or 24th century. Coal will then be our 1000 year bridge in petrochemical production. The second reason is air quality, even with the best scrubbers a slight amount of pollution get through. The particulates that are scrubbed out can be used for cinder block, asphalt or particle board; however, there have been health questions related to these coal products. It would therefore be a good goal to three or four decades out to only use coal for first time steel production. Normal burning of coal produces more radiation (180 mrem per year) at the plant boundary than Americas worst nuclear accident at Three Mile Island (TMI produced 60 mrem at the plant boundary) While neither is a dangerous level coal releases much more radiation into the environment than nuclear. The energy that our local utility will purchase from Plant Vogtle starting in 2017 will be comparable to the cost of coal at the point of transmission and will be less expensive than natural gas.

The Dividends of Racial Politics

The Congressional Black Caucus is outraged that 70 percent of the people are incarcerated; yet they are not outraged that 70 percent of murders are young black men killing each other. I am sure they understand the connection; yet their political power is more important than working on real solutions to the problem. A second question that should be asked is that the slime-ball that owns the Clippers had his wife come on MSN and say he was not racist. How could this woman put up with affair after affair? How could say he was not racist after his comments? Back to the Ms. Star's statements, after the Republicans forced Clinton to sign the welfare reform bill, the black employment rate increased dramatically as did the rate for poor whites. The bill provided an incentive to complete school and get job training. Under the current Democrat Party economy, the lower 90 percent of American's are having their income gradually taken away; whereas, the 1 percent are doing better than ever. We need more fundamental change from these policies that will help all Americans, like the "Fair Tax".
As a Floridian, I have to say that Jeb Bush did a great job as governor. I would love to see him as president. How about governor Martinez of New Mexico as VP? Though I could see them holding policy discussions in Spanish as both speak it fluently.
I would like to see Hilary as the Democrat nominee. I can see the commercial now, there a lady who looks like Hillary in bed, the alarm clock shows 3:00 AM. The red phone next to the bed rings and Hillary rolls over and ignores it. The scene then switches to Hillary's testimony before Congress and the famous phrase, "What difference does it make!!!" The announcer than says, "Can we trust Clinton's judgment during a crisis?"

Scams, Fraud Flourish in Solar Still

A friend is selling solar units, I took a look at what one cost and it had a 25 year payback. What condition would the panels be in at the end of 25 years.

Marita, I assume that is one with chronic unemployment well above 10%. You are definitely right that solar is only a very small part of solution and these companies and their products need to be better regulated. We have a solar plant built by our local utility JEA that produces 15 MWe until one of the little fluffy white clouds that always dot our Florida skies flies across the plant and the current meter dips to zero. This power costs $163 per MWh; whereas, we are contracting to buy energy from the GEN III+ Vogtle III & IV units at $83 per MWh though the power costs on this nuclear by wire are now on target to be much lower.
While technically true, it must be remembered that in 2006 the last years the Republicans had congress the deficit was less than $200 billion. In 2007 after the Democrats took control it increased to over $400 billion and under Obama it exceeded a Trillion dollars for most of his first four years. That is why we consider the statement that a deficit of over $600 billion is a reduction to be smoke and mirrors.
Indirectly, through power from the local GEN III+ or GEN IV power plant!
Actually, once graphene is used in the place of graphite in the lithium ion batteries, power ratio should improve by 10 -1, the graphene also dissipates heat 200 times better than metal, so a graphene casing may be the overheating solution. Electric motors are small than think, the large lathes and milling machines such as the rollers in steel mills are driven by 10,000 HP electric motors. There is an electric motor that fits inside standard hubs of 18" to 24" and delivers 100 HP, it weighs 68 pounds including all controls and the automobiles brakes. It does require a sturdier suspension as it is heavy for a wheel hub; but, the elimination of a drive train more than offsets the motor and the battery weight. If place four of these on a car, bus or delivery truck, that is 400 HP to drive the vehicle.
