As Blizzard Nemo Strikes, Global Warming Won’t Be Far Behind

My favorite line in your column is, "Al Gore can't fart sideways today without the gas being caused by Global Warming." Of course, Methane is "30 times as powerful as greenhouse gas than Carbon Dioxide so Al is contributing 30 times as much to Global Warming. There was a metorlogist on the radio who said the the earths olipitcal orbit goes through cycles. We are at the point that the cycle that caused the little ice age should be starting. We also are on the cusp of the 11,000 year moderate ice age cycle and the 105,000 year major ice cycle. We are probably nowhere near the warmest we have been as when Leaf the Lucky landed in Greenland in 1000 AD it was truly green along the coast. The are many factors in climate beyond our control.

Elliptical orbit, Leif the Lucky (Eirikson).

Otherwise, yeah pretty much.

You are soooo correct about the methane. We should nominate Buffalo Bill and his helpers for the Nobel prize posthumously. By shooting all the buffalo, they elminated tons and tons of bovine flatulence and saved the planet.

Finally we understand why it was so warm in 1000AD, all thos damn Buffler wuz alive!!!

"saved the planet" at the cost of the Indians who relied on the buffalo for food, clothing, and housing(tents).

You don't get facetiousness, do you?

Besides which, until they got (stole) horses from the Europeans, Indians hunted buffaloes by means of things called "buffalo runs", where they would trick herds into stampeding off cliffs. Then they would pick through the carcasses and take only the choicest cuts of meat.

Some of us are actually acquainted with real Native American history, not this greeting-card nonsense.

And we don't even know which pass Hannibal used to cross the Alps with his elephants because all the likely candidates are now rendered impassible by glaciers that weren't there in Roman times.

Blizzard Nemo is bearing down on the Northeast- hence the term nor’easter to describe it- so prepare for the folks at Fashion Week, now being held in New York City, to be out in force battling the storm.

“The organizers of New York's Fashion Week,” reports the CSMonitor,  “a closely watched series of fashion shows held under a big tent – said they will have extra crews to help with snow removal and will turn up the heat and add an extra layer to the venue.”

We can only hope that they wear furs.

Because we’ll need blizzards of hilarity...
