We Republicans can never win popular support until we rid ourselves of the tendency toward pork and crony capitalism. If the Tea Party achieves nothing else, it would be a huge boon to our democracy for it to drive the supporters of this sort of thing out of the Republican Party. Government should create a fair playing field for business, but it should never lift a hand to help a specific business win the competition. That goes for entire industries as well, e.g., farming, solar. The one exception is the defense industry which by necessity must remain in a mercantilist regime.

The problem with the defense industry is the necessity for secrecy. So, government supervision and collaboration is a given.

Other than that, we are almost communists because of the RINOs and the Dems.
Farming is a game to RINOS (Republicans In Name Only). But farming is not a game. Not in America. We are the world’s No. 1 exporter of wheat, corn and soybeans. If we mess up, global food prices soar, livestock die, and streets erupt in riots.

The GOP is supposed to be the party that “gets” economics. Republicans pride themselves on fiscal responsibility and censure Democrats for wasteful spending. But, when it comes to farming, many Republicans fail Econ 101.
