I didn't say that. The Federal government should confine itself to national security and ensuring that commerce between the states is kept regular.

In your ideal world, why couldn't the separate 50 countries tend to their own "national" securities and monitor commerce between themselves, perhaps much like the EEC does today?

Why even be a country then? Why not 50 different countries?
