Profanity and Pop Music

I'm glad that you're saying this. Nobody is saying that art can't occasionally contain what would normally be socially unacceptable. The problem here is the NORMALIZATION of profanity and the push to break down all boundaries. People will argue that our parents said the same thing about 'our' music, but we have to understand that there's a very real wall that we're about to hit as a society -- and this WILL affect your children. Sophistication (so-called) will not protect us from becoming a crude culture. A crude culture leads to a general lack of respect for EVERYBODY and a self-centered mind set. Isn't it odd that this argument comes from the conservative side because WE CARE. This is what real compassion is about...
Thanks for the common sense, Michelle. God bless you and God bless Chick Fill-A. I hope they see a ground-swell of support. Feel like a chicken sandwich right about now.....

"The first step to restoring honor in Americans is to stop pretending integrity is the sole province of religionists." Wow. Please re-read the article. This is exactly what the piece does NOT do. How did you miss this: " I am not saying that this country should become a theocracy; there are truths which are clear to all men apart from Scripture and it is those universal truths to which all men are accountable and which provide a common ground for each citizen and political party." This is a time for common ground. God bless you, James. I think I still have the freedom to say that....

Better get ready for the humorless left to totally miss your satirical point. After all, everybody knows that we're just a bunch of haters, right?

I just want to say a plain & simple "thank you." Nothing clever - no sarcasm. I hope I'm just part of a huge chorus of readers that express appreciation for you stating the case so well.
God bless us, every one...

Who Would Jesus Offend?

This is exactly what happens when people feel that they're elite, cool, powerful, and smarter than you are. And, of course our society is being trained to feel that way toward Christians.
We're safe because we won't get violent.
What, indeed, has happened to civility? The veneer is gone - we see the man behind the curtain. There really is no such thing as tolerance or mutual respect - at least not toward an 'easy' target.
Am I angry? Sure - but I'm also kind of heartbroken about where we are as a culture.
This is deplorable and I hope that people that care will do whatever they can to express their disgust with the idea, and with Comedy central.

To those who believe, no explanation is needed: to those who don't believe, no explanation will suffice.
To those who would claim that there are no absolute truths, I'd point you to books like C.S. Lewis' Mere Christianity, or any number of other books that look at the whole "God of Abraham, Isaak & Jacob' issue with an analytical eye - "The Innocence of God," is another good one. There's a history here that should be examined - the God that created us with the gift of Free Will - the ability to choose - provided guidelines and conditions that ultimately show mercy. In the end, Christianity is the only religion where our God gives Himself for us. Bottom line: we don't get what we deserve ...and that's a good thing.

If You Can Find a Better Deal, Take It!

Ann - you blew me away with this. As a believer myself, I was cheering you on the whole way. You made me laugh one minute and I felt myself starting to cry the next. Why? Because 1) You expressed the Truth of the Gospel in a compelling, straight-forward, no-frills way, and 2) once again, I wonder why so many people just don't get it.
You did a great job. Thank you SO much for saying it in your own special way.
God bless you.

Thank you, Cal.
You so eloquently stated what I've wanted to say many times - I'm glad that you have this platform. I hope that some people will see the truth of your main point: we as Christians simply want to share what we've freely received. No strings, no agendas.
God bless you, Cal.
Thanks, Michael, for bringing this issue more into public focus. It seems that we, as a society, have gone so far from the center that we've forgotten how to use common sense, no less recognize God's laws. I pray that this mother and child will be able to find freedom in 'the land of the free' before it becomes the land of chaos. God forgive us for where we've gone with the gift of freedom.....
