Humour is about skewering convention and dissecting social norms. As Conservatives are unabashedly pro-establishment and reject new ideas they don't tend to make good comedians. You've gotta have a unique perspective on things to be funny.
Colbert's been around for what, 12+ years and conservatives STILL don't realize he's satirizing them? Jeez

They can't be doing a very good job of that if domestic oil production and oil rigs have flourished in recent years.
If we halved the ~$500bn annual budget of the military we could still have the most powerful armed forces on the planet (by a huge margin) and could banish almost all of our budget problems. Oh wait, I forgot, budget 'heavyweights' like NPR, Planned Parenthood and PBS are what's causing our budget woes! Despite the fact they're like half a percent of the Defense figure...

So you just insult me rather than address the substance of my argument. Par for the course for the comments section on this site I guess.

No. I hate those who experienced: free healthcare; affordable college education; a stable and healthy manufacturing industry (for unskilled workers) and extensive government investment in social programs and now have the gall to turn around and say people are "entitled" for wanting the same and that they must be "lazy' for not reaching their level of success, despite college, healthcare, gas and residential costs going through the roof in recent decades and middle and lower class wages remaining stagnant. I don't hate their success - I hate that they don't recognize how good they had it compared to people (especially young people) today.

Obama is not 'far left' - not by his party's standards or in general. He's just the latest version of the Third Way center-left politicians (Clinton, Blair) which found success in the 90s. Free market economics with a touch of liberal social policies, quasi-Keynesian fiscal policy and a firm but non-aggressive foreign policy. He hasn't really done anything substantively different from his Republican predecessor apart from health care reform, and even then that policy was strongly influenced by a model prepared by the Right-wing Heritage Foundation that actually had Republican endorsement in the 90s. And you haven't seen 'far left' if you haven't experienced the Eastern Bloc or much of western Europe before the 1980s.

"I place ideology above party loyalty. It is true that I will not vote for any Democrat under any circumstances, not even if they seek my vote for local dog catcher" But what if the Democrats embrace policies that comply with your ideologies? If you value ideology over party loyalty then that would be a circumstance where you should vote Democrat. (inb4 'but democrats will never embrace my ideology!' it's still a possibility). "I place good play over team loyalty. But I will never support any team other than the Patriots!"
Once again, i'm questioning nothing but the integrity of this website. Voter fraud is an unjustifiable attack on democracy and free society and it shoudln't matter WHO does it. That's why journalists have a responsibility to present an unbiased view of facts and not to omit relevant information. The complete lack of coverage of voter fraud THAT WAS CAUGHT ON FILM by someone who was hired by a company THAT HAS PREVIOUSLY BEEN INVESTIGATED FOR VOTER FRAUD by this website is an insult to informed journalism. If the writers of this website are so principled, then they should address matters that reflect badly on the Republican Party, not just stuff about the Democrats. Wouldn't want to be like the 'biased' MSM would we?
I'm not talking about the "MSM", i'm talking about this website. If this website has any claim to be truthful and unbiased, then in an article about election fraud they should probably mention some clear election fraud which happened less than a month ago. It's called journalistic integrity.
It's funny how this website hasn't even mentioned the clear election fraud conducted by a firm hired by the Colorado Republican party and how they sent a girl out to only register Romney voters. And the operator of this company was also linked to fraud in 2004 when registrations for Democratic voters were made but then thrown away without being submitted. Though I guess TH needs to be selective about their reporting so reality doesn't scupper the right-wing belief that lefties are all about voter fraud.
