The whole "We just want acceptance," manure is seen to be exactly that. It is not acceptance being sought. It is approval! You can go through life accepting homosexuality as part of our culture but the minute you announce that you accept but you don't approve you get this kind of treatment. This is why the gay marriage issue is bunk. It is not about marriage at all! If gay couples really simply wanted an institution that celebrated their commitment to each other, they'd come up with their own tradition stemming from their own culture. Hijacking marriage is an attempt to force approval.
