Joblessness is a new career path. It puts people on the government pay role, provides not too terrible income esp. if there are two "working" adults in the family, benefits, housing, and a voice in management via the vote. I wonder just how willing the current set of congressionals would be to keep ramping up the dole if a real job, an actual W-2, were a prerequisite to vote!

Huge assumptions there pal...
Joblessness today isn't a choice... the 43million people on food stamps aren't even mostly there by choice... Qualifying for food stamps means: you eat your IRA, all owned property except your home, and all but 1 vehicle and reduce your savings to below $2,000... After 4 years of Obamanation there are tens of millions of Americans that can't get a job to save their life... Poverty is not a pleasant place especially for the tens of millions of us that have been at the top during the Reagan years... $50 in food and an hour of phone time each week, is hardly "not too terrible income"... Prisoners have it better

Yes, there are many who are unemployed through no fault of theirown. Unfortunately, there are also a lot of fraudsters, illegals, and lazy sloths abusing the system. It's disgusting when you hear of people using Food Stamps (via illegal trade) to buy booze and drugs, when there are truly needy people who don't qualify.

I wish Obama and the Democrats could be as passionate about jobs as they are about, say, the contents of Happy Meals. Or the dust from cement factories. Or the habitat of the red-cockaded woodpecker.

While the wizard of DC remains a master of illusion and delusion, focusing everyone’s attention on the man behind the curtain- and his 20 Little Martyrs- the jobless recovery now enters its fifth year with no signs that hiring will be picking up soon.

So instead of worrying about the peckers, I wonder about the 12 million martyrs who remain unemployed. And the 3.6...
