Dear Dr. Sowell, I nearly always agree with you and I agree with what you've written here, but where were you when John McCain was publicly name calling against Rand Paul and Ted Cruz? The Tea Party wing and the Establishment wing BOTH need to learn to keep their differences behind closed doors like the Dims do. They need to concentrate on their many areas of agreement instead of fixating on their areas of disagreement. And John McCain needs to shut up.

WJF-You have it. If illegals can't get jobs, welfare or free medical care they won't come and the ones that are here will go home. Problem solved.
Fuzzy-Ron Paul is the real RINO. He left the GOP in the 80's, very publicly and very rudely. He took out an entire newspaper page to print his open letter that said he was leaving the GOP and joining the Libertarian Party because he didn't like Reagan (that didn't stop him from trying to use Reagan's name in his ads in the last campaign). Then he lost his next election and realized he couldn't win as a Libertarian so he came crawling back. But he's not a real Republican.
Bullish-That's what primaries are for. They're all on the ballot in the primary.
El Loco-Look at what Ron Paul did to the party. How does this hurt Tea Party candidates? Aren't the rules the same for everyone?
Dave-Have you checked Cornyn and McConnell's voting records? Part of the problem is that so many "republicans" are ready to turn on someone if they don't agree with them 24/7 100% of the time. No one is allowed to have a different opinion from them on any issue or they're a RINO. There are some that truly are-mostly in the NE-and they're about the best you're going to do in those states. There are a few that do need to be replaced, but the ones we should be concentrating on replacing are the Dims.
That's true, traitorbill-Harry will eventually pay but it won't be soon enough.
The only people that are finding it to be cheaper are those who qualify for subsidies, and even in those cases it's not actually cheaper-it's just cheaper for that person-someone else is making up the difference. I'm sure that's okay with Louse who thinks a culture of dependency is a good thing.
John, If I were a syphilitic senile old drag queen I'd be insulted.
dann-Inn some states it would, but it probably wouldn't be enough. A lot of people carry minimum limits on their liability.
pragmatic-Laws differ in different states. In Texas, whether the driver was at fault or not, if you hit a pedestrian you're liable and the auto insurance would pay his hospital bills up to the policy limit-which might be less than 50K. Then, if his insurance wasn't enough to cover everything your uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage would pay if you carry it.
