If you look at gun crimes, mental health issues, and gun control regulations, the federal government has little or no juristiction. What Obama and Holder are doing then, is a publicity stunt to "punish their enemies". The mindset of gun control, as crime control, just doesn't add up. I for one, don't understand the democrat's approach.

You forget something supply and demand...Gun control does not address this issue....right now there is a demand for guns, and a steady supply. Lets say tomorrow all guns are illegal, there will still be a demand but no supply, someone will see the opportunity and create a supply. Now instead of a controlled and regulated supply of guns we will have a unregulated and undocumented supply, in my opinion that is far worst. This has happened before which alcohol, and currently with drugs...just because you make something illegal it doesn't make it disappear it just goes into the black market.....That is why gun control will never work...

The UK is an island nation. How can you smuggle anything in without the government knowing about it? Yet, since they passed their gun ban, the authorities estimate that at least 3 million "illegal" guns have been smuggled into the UK and are now being used by criminals to commit crimes. How could that happen? How will we ever stop the smuggling of guns into the US across the Mexican border, should we ever make guns illegal? We can't even stop something the size of a human from crossing the border illegally.

Attorney General Eric Holder spoke at the U.S. Conference of Mayors Friday and said the following (numbers are mine):

"This unspeakable tragedy but also the individual tragedies that take place on your streets and all (1) too often unnoticed stand as stark reminders of our shared responsibility to address not just the epidemic of gun related crimes and the (2) ongoing need for vigorous enforcement of our laws but also the underlying conditions that give rise to gun violence. Throughout our history, the overwhelming majority of American gun owners have been responsible, law abiding citizens, yet (3)...
