Instead of demonizing gun owners, it might be time for us, as a culture to face the facts that there are contingencies in our society who MUST be confined and supervised for their own good. We should give serious consideration to idea that shuttering long term institutions for the developmentally delayed and for the chronically mentally ill was a bad idea.

We have yet to see any hard evidence that the Sandy Hook slimeball was actually mentally-ill. Hearsay from supposed friends of the family means nothing.

Preemptively punishing people for crimes that they might, possibly, one day commit is fundamentally unjust.

As a candidate for president of the United States, it is incumbent on me to make a statement regarding the Sandy Hook massacre and to explain how my policies would help prevent other such massacres should I become president. As I discuss this sensitive topic, it is also incumbent on me to sound more rational and articulate than the incumbent. That will not be difficult.
