There are a great deal of evangelicals who are completely disconnected from political matters. They could not tell you any position held by Obama or Romney and don't care either way. On the other hand there are other evangelicals who are very in tune to political matters and will vote and will vote for Romney, sure he may be a Mormon, but he isn't looking to break down the church in America like Obama is. If the disengaged Christian really understood that, they would be clamorong to the polling booths. Unfortunately, the left has the churches in fear of having to pay taxes over political views so most remain completely silent. Unfortunately, I guess they are all too willing to lose their soul than lose their tax exemption.

Why the Obama Bubble Still Hasn’t Burst

People will not say they oppose this president openly, they may say they are unhappy with policy, but I hear no one say in a casual gathering that they will not vote for him. The underlying tone is "we need to vote for someone to fix things that are going wrong", but one names names. I think the polls are accurate to what people will say openly, but what people will check behind a curtain will be quite different.

I have listened to NPR a lot over the years and every fund drive they have, they explicitly say that only a small percentage of their funding comes from government funds. If the government funding is removed, I believe that they will get more cash flow from that fact that those who watch/listen will no longer think to themselves " I don't need to contribute, because they are supported by tax dollars anyway"

It seems in the big picture, that those who have a high impression of his fellow man will afford him the freedom to do what is right. Those who are primitive in their social understanding and deceitful in their own mind will see other that way and will not trust the people to do what is beneficial to the whole of society. I also suspect that those who are rich (ie, buffet, soros, gates etc.) will seek to keep the masses under control to protect their position and themselves.
Lets see let me guess they are after mothers with teenage daughters votes.
Voter fraud! Is that why a blue state like wa state has mail in ballots only, save for one county.

Tragedy of Rising Energy Prices

I wasn't commenting so much on the cause/effect so much as the sequence of events. Domestic oil production is probably the single most effective way to stimulate the economy, and I think Romney gets that. Oil self sufficiency will cut our trade deficits in roughly half. Plus the added jobs, and good jobs. People forget though that it isn't the paycheck that's stimulates the economy, it's the work done to earn it.

I may be wrong, but not to bash bush, but it seemed like, bush handed out the tax refunds, gas prices spiked to suck up the spare cash, then after 4 tanks of gas people had to pay the fuel price to get to work to the detriment of the mortgage payment. The rest we all know too well. I always say that according to physics, energy = work. But people have have brain cells in close proximity to each other to get it.
The establishment republican party has already started to dissipate, the stars of the republican party are not establishment, heck the new republican party is on the VP slot, for the last two elections. This president runs against the VPs because they are who their real opponents are. I will expect to see more real conservatives seek and take office in the party as each election cycle takes place. The real problem with the establishment is they don't believe what they say they stand for so they can't talk without sounding like blubbering idiots. Those who believe what they say they stand for are better equipped to articulate and defend the reasoning of thier positions and ideas.
Trump has clout, because trump persisted on the Birth certificate, Obama produced something. Obama can safely ignore everyone else.
Everybody runs a better campaign than the republicans. The republicans offer suger and fat free dry biscuits and the the democrats offer chocolate covered cow pies and people buy it every time. The swift boat won for GWB, even Perot captured more interest than the republicans. Romney is so dry he should walk around with a glass of milk or something, at least it would have a Pavlov effect.
