As a resident of IL and Chicago - there is a constant battle, year after year, in regards to gun control laws - they introduce this type of legislation every year in IL, every year it loses, but the time and money has to be spent to defeat it. They will never go away until the 2nd Amendment is gone. The recent legislation would have banned every semi-automatic weapon (including shotguns). The city of Chicago and state of IL have spent millions fighting all the way to the Supreme Court to maintain gun bans - yet even with the gun bans I knew of hundreds of residents that kept "illegal" handguns in the city - they cannot enforce this stupidity in a city like Chicago, how are they ever going to enforce it in an entire country?

Chicago is known for good steaks, expensive stores and beautiful architecture. Unfortunately, the Windy City also enjoys a reputation for corrupt politics, violent crime, and some of the strictest gun control laws anywhere in the country. To rational people, the inverse relationship between the last two is obvious. Unfortunately for residents of and visitors to Chicago, the city is governed by officials who operate not in the real world, but in a virtual “Bizarro World,” where up is down, black is white, and good guys are to be punished.
