How about we put these people in congress on a commission basis? The more the economy improves, the more they get paid. Of course we would have to do away with the treasury department and figure out a way to get the real growth numbers of the economy without paying politicians for that info.

Spending and Morality

Better get back to reading your Robin Hood again and you will notice that he went after the the royal government to steal from to give to the poor. At the time, government was the only source of wealth which is what happens when societies are in the state of collapse.

It's the Spending, Stupid!

Who are the "stupid" that John is referring to? Why, the voting public of course. The same stupid people who think they are entitled to the production of someone else. The same stupid people who are totally ignorant of economics, world history and the US Constitution. I could go on and on but why bother. What we are seeing is nature's way of showing us that "total vigilence is the price of freedom."

Lincoln Re-Examined

Try a little economics before making such a dumb statement. Slavery at the time was becoming extinct because of economic reasons. It was easier to turn former slaves into sharecroppers and a lot more productive in the farming south. Other country's in the American continents had ended slavery peacefully because it was inefficient and not because they were non racists. Those that did had intergrated former slaves into their society much quicker than it took the US after it's destructive civil war. Finally, Lincoln suggested an amendment to the Constitution, which would have been the 13th, to legalize slavery throughout the south in order to stop secession which was the right of all states at the time.

Cleaning Up After Ruth Bader Ginsburg

Ginsberg should be impeached along with other justices and politicians who take an oath to protect and defend the Constitution and then ignore it's very principals.
Slavery was ending naturally because the industrial revolution was taking place and owners were making their slaves sharecroppers so they could lead their own lives and make their own living. Slavery would have died within 20 to 30 years because it had become too expensive and unproductive. Secondly, Lincoln could have ended the Fugitive Slave Act in the North allowing fleeing slaves to remain free in the North instead of returning them to their owners in the south. But of course the northern workers would not want to compete for jobs with freed slaves which was the real cause of the draft riots.

I have a better idea. Put all politicians on a minimum salary plus commision. Let's start with a $25,000 base salary plus a commision of $1,000,000, based upon getting GDP above 5% a year and government spending below 15% of GDP. This idea would quickly rid us of the career politician and attract business people who know how to create wealth. This also may lead to the end of the Agriculture Department, the Department of Education, the Post Office and many other departments that are a useless drain on our economy. Son of Cato
