1. Mandatory car insurance is liability insurance. It's for the irresponsible driver who inflicts injures on another person. If you want car insurance on yourself and your car, there is no mandate. California did a study and found that even with the auto insurance mandate 10% still didn't have auto insurance: The same percentage of people that don't have health insurance. They identified the characteristics of this kind of law breaker. They found that they are the same kind of people who wouldn't buy healthcare insurance. Please do a little research.

Ever heard of Dahlia Lithwick? No? Don’t feel bad. I hadn’t either until I read her piece of … something or other … on Slate about the Supreme Court hearing this week on Obamacare.

A quick Google search turned up her Wikipedia entry, which tells me she’s a Canadian and contributing editor at Newsweek and senior editor at Slate. In other words, a committed leftist.
