Well, the media certainly were not using it for at least the first six years of the GWB debacle. Or during most of the Reagan years. The media are lazy but certainly not liberal. They were the hardest on Clinton over the Lewinsky affair because they like easy stories that people will be interested in. Questioning why we would invade Iraq, for example, would be too much work and they don't think many in the general would understand the details.

If Hagel said it, then tell us who he said it to and prove it. These are basic rules that good journalists, or even just good opinion writers, try to follow. I know it's not required on Breitbart, but if you ever would like to have even a little bit of credibility, now would be a good time to start using facts.
