I live just forty miles from the border next to the Vekol Valley. The smugglers have made this a war zone and ordinary people, even when armed, are no longer even remotely safe right in our own desert. Every road out of town has warning signs that you're in a danger zone. Our pristine desert has been ripped up by illegal roads and submerged in tons of trash. We want our desert back, and if the government can't deliver that, perhaps the people must.
