Ah, yes, you just plunk down your holy text, and everyone has to stop using their heathen "logic". It doesn't work that way. If the second amendment is wrong, it can be repealed. We do, in fact, have to figure out if it is wrong, or not. That it isn't is established by such anecdotes, and by John Lott's statistical studies. I don't care how good a Constitution it is, it's still a piece of paper. It has no more ultimate authority than the warranty on your fridge.

AZY...If you really believe that, I feel sorry for you. The Constitution is the basis for the existance of the best country in the world, despite the attacks on it. BTW, Mr. President, the Second Amendment is not abot skeet shooting.

If you do not believe the Constitution is the greatest document conceived in the history of the world, vote Democrat. It you think it is, vote Republican.

Amendments cannot be repealed. You must pass an amendment voiding an amendment. As the Constitution is the supreme law of the land, it works exactly that way; you are either going to obey it-or not. If not, you will pay the consequences.

I still think most citizens of the World would like to live in the kind of Country the Founding Fathers' developed. Some ex-patriots do, of course, exist, but we still have people trying to get in because it is better here. Even Africans, despite the nonsense spewed daily.

Uh... actually, it has a great deal more ultimate authority, based as it is on an attempt to construct a government according to precepts taught by the Christian religion.

What you're saying is, a Constitution can be changed. Yes, it can. But that does not change the fact that the Bill of Rights really was an attempt to articulate a list of the most important of the natural rights the Constitution's authors had in mind to protect when they wrote the Constitution.

Note that they are NATURAL rights. They exist prior to, and above, any attempt to codify them in a national constitution.

In a nation that already has more than 200 million guns, gun control does little other than make the work of rapists, robbers, murderers and nuts like Adam Lanza easier. When faced with gun control laws, the law abiding citizen has no choice other than to disarm or become an outlaw, but people with bad intentions are faced with no such moral dilemma. That's why the best friend of a rapist or a potential Adam Lanza is the gun control advocate who's working tirelessly to insure that his targets can't adequately defend themselves.

On some level,...
