For example, if an editor said he wanted an 800 word article from you, how would you get in to the ball park of that number?

I think spaces are counted, but what is the length ( measured by word-count ) of this column ?

Nope I'll be honest. I thought it was an actual word count. Why do I feel kind of foolish to think there shouldn't be a difference.
