Typically deceptive California politics in the realm of initiatives and propositions. California routinely puts things up for vote that nobody takes the time to read, much less analyze. So, this is going to reverse the "term limits" notion. Given the way the California legislature has gone over the last several years with term limits in place, I'm having trouble understanding why term limits is supposed to be such a panacea.

Great. But the sad reality is that because people see the TIME cover, these lies will (in the old saw) travel around the world twice before the truth is known. Ours is a visual age, and TIME and Newsweek know that full well (breast-feeding children and rainbow halos pretty much say it all). It's why analysts talk about "optics" -- perception is everything.

I hear you, and know what you say to be true. And so, make your voices heard. Don't let the Sharptons, Jacksons and Obamas build their base among dispossessed and disenfranchised young urban black people without opposition. Publicize the better way and fight to bring people around to it.

I still shake my head at Obama's presumption: going to Barnard (my mother's alma mater) and displacing an accomplished professional woman as commencement speaker just so he can wear a pretty blue robe and lecture them about the challenges facing women ... such as, being allowed by the President to speak at a Barnard graduation. I can't comprehend why the "women's liberation" crowd hasn't been all over this usurpation. BTW, I remember the old NYC too. And when Disney began changing Times Square I remember Jimmy Breslin's statement: "hookers or Disney? I'll take the hookers."
