Taxes should provide for the common defence (of America) and the Court system as honest brokers between free citizens. Everything else should be funded by the people wo actually want it.
Well, who wouldn't? Did you know that little tax haven Jersey (Channel Islands), off the sores of both Britain and France, has the highest per capita membership in Mensa in the world? Any idea why that might be?
We used to think he was the antichrist. Nowadays it seems clear that even Satan is tired of him. If you don't believe in God or Satan, ask Saruman how that bargain worked out for him.

They will be, as soon as Junior is old enough to be bullied by his classmates. He'll be lucky if he doesn't grow up to be Norman Bates.

It's all right there in "Brave New World" ... if you haven't read it lately, read it now. If you haven't ever read it, read it. If you can't read, there are audio versions available. If you can't read a whole book, read the chapter in which Mustapha Mond explains to John Savage succinctly and in clear, unambiguous language the exact building blocks used to build that Brave New World. This nasty little photo is just another brick in that wall...another toddler running into Mommy's cocktail party stark nekkid shouting "Poo Poo Head!" to see if anybody applauds.
Yes, we are KEEPING THE JOBS THAT THE YOUNGER GENERATION BELIEVES SOMEHOW BELONG TO THEM. The reason is often that we can actually spell, punctuate, paragraph, read, write, show up on time, stay all day, work while we're at work, and go the extra mile...and our heads are not buried in that two-inch screen between our thumbs instead of in the work we are being paid to do. And it's worth keeping us on because we're not going to get pregnant and go on an extended maternity leave just when we're starting to have a clue about what our job actually entails.

In 1969-70 which was my senior year at university, I paid $5,700 for one year, and that included a round-the-world cruise. Today that same school charges $18,700 per semester just for tuition, and a further $6,000-$11,000 for room and board. What are they learning today that I didn't learn in 1969?

Because it wasn't all that long ago that peple who wanted their families, tribes and nations to survive had to have lots of children to guarantee that three or four would live to procreate in their turn. There wasn't much to go around, and families couldn't afford to bring up children that wouldn't go forth, be fruitful and multiply. (Which is also why Rick Santorum, a devout Catholic, points out the difficulty too. Although we conservative Catholics are enjoying the sight of liberals gradually disappearing from the earth because they kill all their babies before they can grow up.) This is also why barrenness in a woman was considered a punishment from God, not a reason to hold a celebration, and why everybody used to be married by...
I moved out of Atlanta because I got really, really, REALLY tired of being told that because I was born "White", I was a de facto racist and there was not a thing I could do about it. In point of fact, as Jesse Jackson once said in a rare moment of candour, there ain't a "white" person in America -- if you took as the standard that of South Africa back when they divided people up with really bright lines, every last one of us Americans would qualify as "coloured." Our family has a pirate heritage that includes at least two Indian tribes (Swamp Cree and Oneida), as well as German, Jewish, Swedish, Norweigian, French and Irish. Heck, i bet even the majority of the Aryan Nation can't trace it's "white" ancestry farther than two...

What Is Fair?

Even Jimmy Carte was heard to say "Anybody who tells you that life is fair is telling you a lie." Many people have whined that it's "not fair" that I "get to" [it's GOT to now] trave all over the world and stood on all 7 continents before I turned 22. I reply that I chose not to marry, buy property or own anything but my memories. They chose the opposite. Daddy always said I could have anything I wanted, but nobody alive could have EVERYTHING she wanted. Seems to me that some folks are trying to repeal that undeniable law.
