Amnesty is a pardon. A "path to citizenship' is a pardon which equals amnesty. Otherwise they would be told to go back to their own country and get in line to apply to come to the good old USA as others do. We should not be blackmailed with amnesty to have our borders secured! Carolyn, editor or not, look up the definition of amnesty. And if I were a immigrant that has paid the fines, waited in line, went through the medical exams and filed the paperwork to ccome here legally, I would not be happy with any politician who rewards illegal aliens with amnesty. And as a tax paying citizen I will not be happy with any politician who gives amnesty to those who have came here illegally and raped our country.

Since the Romney/Ryan ticket’s loss last Tuesday, the Republican Party has been going through a period of soul searching.  Much of that is useless propaganda about how the party needs to move to the ‘center’ (whatever that is) on its tax-cutting growth agenda.

But some of it is a genuinely helpful re-examination of the GOP’s relationship with immigrants and immigrant voter groups. This is a helpful but small step in the right direction.
