Zee, Say you work for a home owner insurance company, you get a call from an uninsured home owner who wants to insure his home. You ask a few questions to qualify him and he asks you to hurry because his house is on fire. You think the government should force this company to provide coverage for this foolish home owner because he did not get coverage when he bought the house, but waited until he had this pre-existing problem? Just wait until you have a car accident, then call up All State, whine because they wouldn't offer coverage for a preexisting condition.

As a recent graduate in 1975, I was sent to Long Beach to aid in dismantling a chemical plant so it could be rebuilt in Fort Worth, partly because of regulatory issues. I could see then that Californians were punishing themselves.
Babsara Mary (9:02) points out that the position of the BSA is more about leadership. Of course boys starting out in scouting don't even understand their sexuality. But there are boys who have two dads. Scouts don't want these guys joining, taking leadership classes, or going on campouts with boys. This is just not behavior consistent with the good clean fun most troops try to plan in their outings. My little brother discovered his (homo)sexuality late in his college life, and was proud of his scout years, still had his merit badge wall mounted into his 40's. (I think I understood hisorientation before he did.) Like Mary said, it's about parents wanting to make sure their boys are safe and in the hands of other parents who abide...
I like Walter Williams when he sub's on Rush. Isn't it Mr. Williams that said he loves his wife? He got her some golf shoes so she wouldn't slip on the ice when she washes his car in the driveway in the winter.

and only outlaws will own guns.
A while back, in the 1970’s I think, the leaders of Kennesaw, GA passed a law – the head of the household must own a gun, exempting convicts and crazies. Kennesaw is a safe, peaceful community, unlike nearby Atlanta.

I personally like Ron's scenario at 3:21. It sounds like a wonderful world. But you ask:
"How can we mitigate the effects of global warming? What has to happen in order to mititage the effects of global warming?"

If we all agreed we must reduce the earth's temperature, the late astronomer Carl Sagan pointed out nuclear weapons throw a lot of dust into the air. Historical volcano blow outs have lead scientists to conclude dust in the air cools the planet by reflecting light back into space. Mr. Sagan's warning was entitled "Nuclear Winter"
The USA owns the Aleutian Islands. Evacuate one and surounding islands. Blow it up, wait, check the temp., repeat as necessary. There wasn't much human misery in the 50's...

are hyped for protecting African children from malaria, but that will work only when they are in the net, like when they are sleeping. Mosquitos are living animals, exhaling CO2. There is more mass of insects than people. We ingenious Americans have many good insecticides.
Kill bugs, reduce malaria and CO2; where's the downside?
