I love how liberals, including Chapman, stick their collective heads in the sand and ignore what's going on around them. There's no threat from Muslims in this country, and there are no communists in government. These people need to wake up and stop rooting for the opponents of our country.

Liberals don't consider unintended consequences and when conservatives do, we are call unduly fearful. When young children were working 12 hour shifts and losing body parts in heavy machinery, the union was a good idea. Look where it has gotten us now. When welfare was instituted, it seemed necessary and who would have ever thought it would become so abused? And how about that progressive tax system of ours? Who would have envisioned at it's start that a very small percentage would end up carrying the bulk of the country? Unintended consequences libs, they tryly do need to be considered.

Welfare never seemed necessary, nor did a progressive tax system which punishes performance and rewards non-performance. Child labor laws, not unions, were required to correct the problem.

In the 19th century, Catholicism was regarded by many people in this country as thoroughly incompatible with Americanism. They saw it as a hostile foreign element that would subvert democracy. Today, a majority of the justices on the Supreme Court are Catholic, and they are taken to be as American as Mountain Dew.

We've come a long way in religious tolerance. Or maybe not. The belief that Catholics are irredeemably alien and disloyal has given way to the fear that Muslims pose a mortal threat to our way of life.

That distrust is behind a push in state legislatures...
