I am a conservative Christian but I must say that I have been disappointed in the recent past because I have a different take on the healthcare debate. I think we are missing the boat by rejecting the whole thing outright and here is why. It may not be apparent to the vast majority of people who do not have chronic medical problems but the current arrangement is only working for you if you are relatively healthy and need medical attention only on occasion. The combination of health insurance and self pay while seen as a multi pronged approach is flawed. Instead of the self pay part of it driving the cost down, somehow the insurance part of it (which is probably predominant as a share of cost) drives the cost up so that self pay is becoming
