This author is so off base it is truly difficult to mention all the ways. It's almost as if he had never heard of Fascism, the combination of extremist right wing, conservative ideology with corporatism. That is what the Republicans have wrought in the US. That is what liberals must fight if they idea is to preserve democracy and freedom.

Let's see, which party first set up unelected Czars to do its bidding while overseeing various aspects of government? Which president has made unprecedented use of "executive order" to by-pass Congress? Which president has said, in essence, "I don't agree with that law, so I'm not going to enforce it?" Which president has seized control of banks and corporations, used government to strangle small businesses, taken over one sixth of the economy through Obamacare? Which party would love to wipe out .. . .

With Halloween now in our rearview mirror, I find myself recalling when it used to be such a pleasant and harmless affair, with images of Peanuts characters dressed as witches or paper-bag shrouded scamps or hobgoblins (whatever they are) trudging from door to door, emitting the obligatory “Trick or Treat,” knowing that the tricks were non-existent and treats were plentiful, sometimes even nutritious? Can’t get scarier than that.
