So the thousands of verified stories of gun-owners protecting themselves yearly are of no concern to you? Sure, let's "regulate hard", and leave all the 10's of millions of guns and billions of rounds of ammo that will last for a century for the bad guys. We recently had a home invasion in my relatively safe community. Would you prefer to be raped, tortured, and killed than have a fighting chance with your gun? You liberals remind me of the '60's peaceniks. I remember the mantra, "Let's just lay down our weapons and other will do the same". You are living in another world.
Here's my response to so-called "Gun Safe Zones". My yard sign: This Is NOT A Gun Safe Zone Look Elsewhere If You Value Your Life
Let's pretend that the Fedgov outlaws ALL weapons tomorrow. Okay. Out of the minority percentage who will turn in their weapons, there still will be 10's of millions of guns and billions of ammunition remaining. And what about the black market that appears? The bad guys will always have access to their guns of choice. Some say close the Gun Show loophole for individual sellers and make them do background checks. Okay. And that will stop home invasions how? The crazies will always find a way to have a gun, whether from Gun Shows with new universal background checks (think straw purchases) or just buy them from the underground market. The answer is to arm everyone. The stats are out there that show armed folks are good folks.
I find it bewildering that the so-called intellectuals on college and university campuses (professors, ph.d's, masters, etc.) would think that if a student could even reach a Call Box in an emergency and how long it takes for the Campus Police to get there. I simply can't believe how these "academics" are so lacking in commonsense. Yes, "when seconds count, the police are minutes away". It may be a trite saying, but it is a truism.
