I have an AR-15 ( my second and have been shooting them since 1971 ) but really am not impressed with them. The diminutive cartridge ain't exactly a powerhouse round. I should never have sold my L1A1 and now am considering getting the famous FAL replica known as the SA58, sold by DS Arms. Assault rifles that shoot the 7.62 NATO ( close to the .308 Winchester ) are more powerful and can reach out and touch someone at farther distances. Only disadvantage is you can't carry as much ammo around since the cartridge is bigger.
