This harkens back to my few years in a public "progressive" grade school...the class was run by "consensus" rather than being taught, we were instructed on how to negotiate the class instruction for the day, which meant joining the "group think" and generally having a continuous play day...and the teachers had several "seminar" days which gave us days off...that was fun until my parents deduced that I had learned I immediately was transferred to a private school where I just about flunked out since I had been taught nothing but play for three years. Sound familiar?

Killing the goose that lays the golden egg is one of those old fairy tales for children which has a heavy message that a lot of adults should listen to.
