Sometimes one just has to step back and see the pattern and let it all play out. Detroit is the example here with other cities mentioned...and I can't help but think of Zimbabwe...formerly Rhodesia, that [was] the breadbasket of Africa...now it is it's own basket case...when the embarkation toward sole socialist rule is implemented, as has been proven too many times, it is a guaranteed failure...EXCEPT for those that keep the lie going. It can, will and is happening right here in our own USA, and most just give total slack to a silver tongued charlatan that only has his own best interests to perpetuate. What a shame...and the shame now falls both on the ignorant, and the innocent.

Your insight is spot on...I have always wondered the same things...(I am 72) it is literal insanity to go back and try and make a success of what is known as guaranteed failure. There is always weeping and gnashing of teeth...what a price to pay for "charisma"...

The irony of taxing/spending ourselves in a guise of "social Justice" will lead to us all hanging, either separately, or together...but WE will hang.

With every rise in one dollar of tax, [WE] will have to allocate another $ to cover the increased payout that the Quarterly Estimated tax will also include. Add to this the "inflation" and devaluation of your "disposable income" and pretty soon you are sending your vote for MORE government assistance. O what an evil web has been woven, O what economic ignorance will cost all of us.

Dr. Sowell...run for President...you could run on the "brains and integrity" party...but so few would understand that you are not the supplier of "goodies"...you are the thinker of benefit and expansion of both thought and achievement.

My pet peeves are a) shower heads that "save" water by letting the fluid drop on your head, drip down your shoulders and when it hits your feet you are freezing...I got 5x the water from the bath/shower tap...so I used that...and b) the HVAC that runs with white noise and then STOPS dead when the desired temp is reached...and you are awakened to hear either dead silence...or a baby crying down the hall...and it's not conducive to any resting sleep. HEAR ME ROAR !

This harkens back to my few years in a public "progressive" grade school...the class was run by "consensus"...so rather than being taught, we were instructed on how to negotiate the class instruction for the day, which meant joining the "group think" and generally having a continuous play day...and the teachers had several "seminar" days which gave us days off...that was fun until my parents deduced that I had learned nothing...so I immediately was transferred to a private school where I just about flunked out since I had been taught nothing but play for three years. Sound familiar?

How many time i how many ways do I have to exclaim that "Pay NO attention to what Obama says...pay VERY close attention to what Obama DOES..." If everyone would have followed that thread, then this election would have been decided last year.
