Whenever the government gets involved, there is massive bureaucracy. Disinterested bureaucrats, not doctors, will be determining when and how much medical treatment we all get, if we get any at all. They will look at the numbers -- your age, how much treatment will cost, the ROI on said treatment, etc. If they determine that you're not worth the expense, you'll be provided a cheaper stop-gap until you die or miraculously recover on your own. YOU, the individual, have no special worth. When you purchase your own healthcare, you have a direct and personal connection to the doctors involved in treatment.
