Nonsense. Where there is a will . . . We did teach those things cited in the article in the not-so-distant past. It's a matter of rebuilding what has been dismantled by the Left. It will take time, but it can be done.

Unions Lose it Under Obama

My mother was a teacher with L.A. City School District at the peak of its performance. Its system was a model for the nation and turned out well-educated students. Enter the unions. Through my mother's eyes, I witnessed the steady decline of the schools under union control. Mom ended up retiring before, as she put it, "I start to hate teaching." The main goal of the unions, it seemed, was to strip teachers and principals of their power, often in the name of making their jobs easier, while placating them with more money and better benefits. Union policies and protections served no one, especially the students. But that didn't stop the unions.

Bravo! Excellent points, and I love the last analogy.

Meet with the president back stage or in private at the White House? Just what good would that have done anybody? That implies that Obama respects others enough to listen to an opposing viewpoint. He doesn't. The only person for whom he has high regard is Obama. And he's a pro at blowing off what he doesn't want to hear. Look how he has treated foreign dignitaries with whom he disagrees on policies that directly affect their people and countries. By presenting his ideas very publicly, Dr. Carson has made it impossible for Obama to pretend that all the world loves and agrees with him (the important folk, anyway). The ideas were beautifully stated for all to hear, and Dr. Carson presented his thoughts as a Christian.

State of the Union Cheat Sheet

Excellent column -- a keeper. What I wonder is how people sit and listen to an Obama speech without a serious case of deja vu. It's always the same horse puckey. Worse still, more and more of those listening and nodding their heads in agreement are out of work, on food stamps, with a dwindling quality of life, and paying more for everything. They never stop long enough to compare what The Great O says to Reality. I don't get it. When did Joe Public get so brain-dead that he started believing what ANY politician says, without question?

Not precisely. It helps to know the full story: The "Zero Option" was the name given to an American proposal for the withdrawal of all Soviet and United States intermediate-range nuclear missiles from Europe. This term was subsequently expanded to describe the vision of eliminating all nuclear weapons everywhere.
"Sensitive," "Inclusive," "Politically Correct" -- the nice sounding words for cowardice that the MSM collectively hide behind. They vilify, smear, and demonstrate infinite disrespect for Christians, conservatives, religion, and conservative/religious values readily enough and think they are being very brave. But stand up to Islam? Never.
Sounds like the Red Cross is afraid that Americans will figure out that it's not the be-all, end-all in relief organizations; that Americans can and will actually help each other directly. Like any other top-heavy, bloated organization, much of its energy is spent holding onto power and influence. A little healthy competition has to be squashed. How sad for the people who are hurting.
Cut-and-paste drivel posted elsewhere. Flag and ignore.
(con't) teaching their kids that Obama got elected for all the wrong reasons -- not because he was the best man for the job, but because he was Black and it was time the nation had a Black president. Mr. Elder is pointing out that it's this approach to raising a child that happens to be Black that has done so much damage. On a personal note, growing up, I never was taught or believed that only white males could grow up to be president. Maybe it's because I went to private religious schools, but I was taught that ANY American child (male or female) could achieve that goal, if qualified.
