This is the kind of thinking that keeps the republican party as a democratic party lite. Voting the lesser of evils is still evil. Holding on to the hope that the republicans will some day figure it out is nothing but a dream. Party politics is about power and money not about doing what they supposedly stand for. It is marketing and advertising. Both parties only have to work to get the swing voters. They don't have to satisfy their base if we refuse to hold them accountable.
The democrats have all of these factions too! They may only appear different because of marketing and labeling. We have to get past the labeling and emotional responses to their stimuli and go back to real logic and reasoning, not the "critical thinking" they try to portray as logic and reason.
Giving power over these items to politicians is what leads to catastrophe. We have been told we can't debate these things because it may lead to arguments and hurt feelings. We have lost our ability to discuss and debate in menaingful ways so we never challenge ourselves to learn. We just go to the voting booth and vote in all of our uninformed glory.
We can argue all day long about how we have taken God out of our country. The real problem is that we have allowed our government to be free of the bounds of the constitution and the enumerated powers granted to the federal government by the people. We the people, the theoretical keepers of the authority, have given away our powers in order to make life seem simpler. After all, it is just all to complex for us to understand so we should let the smart people run our lives, right?! We should not be surprised at the state of the union. Our founders warned us time and time again.
Voting for the lesser of 2 evils is still voting for evil. Claiming no other choice is why we are still stuck with these 2 increasingly destructive parties.
The Republican party left me after the 1994 election. The spent the next several years consolidating party power instead of doing what they promised they would do when they took control of the congress for the first time in 40+ years. It has been down hill ever since. Both parties are now nothing more than a wing of the same totalitarian overlords.
What fails to be considered in all arguments for gun control is Human Nature. Man has been killing man for thousands of years and long before guns were invented. Most of the killing was by the order of the government of the time. The first recorded murder was in the Bible when Cane killed Able by what most believe was a rock. Man has always found ways to kill other men. Guns or no guns is not the issue. Gun Control is about attempting to control the population. It is about politics and the few thinking they can control the many.
Currently not supporting any of these companies and not because of their political beliefs. What this article does not say is how many conservatives are currently supporting these companies now. Maybe a boycott would make a difference and maybe it wouldn't. I can't tell from the this article. If 40% of current customers were conservatives and they suddenly stopped, that would make a difference. If only 2% were conservative, not so much.

The real question here is why the health of those on government "sponsored" health insurance are not healthier than the uninsured. Could it be in large part because of lifestyle and diet? If there is little difference in socioeconomic status and their lifestyles are similar, how is free or low cost insurance going to help. People don't start living a "healthier" life because they can go to a doctor for little or no cost. I supect they see a doctor a little more than before they insurance, but at what dicision points?

We can seriously reduce "illegal" border crossing with simple welfare reform. But that is a political hot potato that no politician will touch. While "illegal" aliens cannot receive welfare benefits except emergency medical, food stamp benefits are very generous. The way the family income is calculated it is very easy for a family with children that are born here to qualify for food stamps. It is often enough to feed the entire family, legal or not. The more children the better. It is a huge and expensive problem that will not be addressed without voters demanding it. And that also will not happen in enough numbers.

You assume that there is a difference between the D's and R's. Think only money and power. That is what politics is all about. D's and R's are just part of the game to confuse the voting public. Then add crony capitalism to bring in big business to muddy the waters even further.
