Doesn't this comment support Mr. Adams' position? As Mr. Spock once said to Dr. McCoy, "Name calling, Dr., does not make an argument."
The pertinent quote in the salon article is, "Here’s the complicated reality in which we live: All life is not equal."

While I agree wholeheartedly with Dr. Sowell, I'm afraid I disagree with his assumption that our citizenry would respond to clearly stated facts and historical evidence. We no longer live in a society that operates in this fashion. For the past 40 years or so, the news media, entertainment, & education industries have successfully created a narrative that is anchored in leftist emotionalism and imagery. Therefore, most of our population is not equipped to move through a discussion based in logic, precedent, & reason. They voted for Obama because he fit the narrative, not because they sat down and worked through the issues and ended up deciding he was the best person for the job.

Obama may be the final step, but the transformation of America has been 30-40 years in the making. In that time the educational systems have been used to produce millions of "citizens" indoctrinated in leftist mythology, narrative, and thought patterns. This filter precludes any genuinely rational, objective consideration of the issues before us. I keep reading about how so many Americans are shocked that a man such as Obama could have been re-elected. It's not really shocking at all when you consider that what he stands for resonates perfectly with what so many have been taught their whole lives.

Given your apparent age, Mr. Barone, you don't understand the cultural shift we have been undergoing. We are now a country inhabited by a population that has been totally steeped in the liberal/marxist utopian vision for the past 40 years. We have indoctrinated millions in this view through our educational system and now we have a country that doesn't share the cultural narrative that lead to its greatness. Now, we will only pick up speed toward destruction.
