Why not? Why is it so hard to believe that something just *is* and doesn't have some wizard behind the curtain making it happen? I don't claim to know all the answers, but if, as this article claims, belief in God is not incompatible with science, why are so many so vehement in their dismissal of evolution, despite a plethora of evidence? If you believe God is pulling the strings, then how is it so inconceivable that he instigated evolution? It makes far more sense than the story of Adam and Eve - which I believe is merely a metaphor or a means of simplifying things for the uneducated and superstitious masses of those earlier times.

Wisdom From The Farm

Awesome. Love those nuggets of common sense and wisdom. Now if the more extreme religious folk would only observe this one in particular: “Don’t interfere with somethin’ that ain’t bothering you none.” Live and let live. Worry about your own soul and let the rest of us worry about ours.

Taxing Death

Common sense can't be found in schools any more. I've been telling people the same thing over and over, and they still don't get it. The media makes it worse by sensationalizing headlines like "GE didn't pay taxes." And most fools don't read beyond that. Anyone who's ever run a business knows better, but just try to convince a Democrat.

I've been watching that show Doomsday Preppers on National Geographic and while those people are somewhat extreme, it does make sense to do at least some kind of preparation and planning for disasters, even if it's just mapping an evacuation route and stocking a few canned goods. From watching the Weather Channel, it seems that most people they interviewed have little or no preparations made, even those living in hurricane or tornado country. That's just plain dumb.

We can get full-blown hurricanes, but they're very rare and far less likely to hit us than more southern states. We're more likely to get blizzards and nasty Nor'Easters, which can do similar damage.

Exactly. Those who were there did great things, but the government gets a D on its performance in managing this crisis. I also give an F to all the idiots who either didn't evacuate if they were able or didn't bother to do even the smallest of preparations. In a way, it was a good thing, though, since seeing our government incompetence at its finest gives some of us incentive to prepare for ourselves so as not to be dependent on government "help."
The vast majority of Americans are either too enthralled by the latest episode of [insert lame reality show here] or being distracted by various sensationalized media headlines while our "representatives" maneuver behind the scenes. It's classic magician tactics: distract with one hand while the other does the deed. Sadly, the entitled and dependent sheeple are falling for it. I can see it now: Some disaster occurs and our government, who couldn't even manage a localized disaster like Katrina - attempts a country-wide effort. Talk about disasters...
My governor in MA (often referred to as "mini-Obama") would be too busy licking Big O's boots to deny him anything. Scary.

GCB: Good Christians Bashed

Good grief. It's a TV show. It's supposed to exaggerate and poke fun at people. Sounds to me like it's making fun of those over-the-top "fake" Christians who pretend piety on the surface, but don't feel it within. Those kinds of people exist in all organizations. People need to stop being so thin-skinned about it and take it as the humor is intended. Since Christians are the majority religion in this country, and already have enormous media presence, they make a very large target for humor.
