He was not convicted of fraud, he was convicted of money digging, it's of note that it has sense been proven that the affidavits which led to his conviction were proven to have all been signed and written by the same person. In other words he was fraudulently convicted. Also Joseph translated The Book of Mormon into King James English because he felt that the language itself helped at getting the divine message forward. When you read the Doctrine and Covenants (the things Joseph claimed as revelations) God speaks to Joseph in 1800s english not King James English, so no i don't find it odd.

The Book of Mormon is a record of a group that came here to the Americas around 600 bc. It goes over God dealings with them and if you'd read it as well as your Bible you'd realize that one can never have enough of the word of God.
