"Demanding litmus tests of our NATIONAL candidates to declare themselves committed to banning first-trimester abortions is counterproductive." It's not much of a "litmus test" to demand that our candidates uphold the inalienable right to life, without compromise. The majority of the electorate has proven themselves unwilling to vote for moderates who refuse to actually stand up for the ideals of their parties. That would be why, when Obama ran the first time, and ran as a hardline leftist, he easily won, but after proving himself to be pretty weak in following through, (more moderate) he barely inched by when compared to another, even more limp-wristed moderate - Romney.
